Tarevo, Kladanj — Slopes of Konjuh mountain
34 years of practical beekeeping
"The purpose of this film is to help most beekeepers achieve better results in their apiaries with less sweat — more honey, pollen, propolis."
Abdulah Vejzovic was born in the village of Tarevo, municipality of Kladanj. He keeps his hives in Kladanj, on the slopes of Konjuh mountain, at a location 12 kilometers from his home, in the direction of Muska Voda.
He was born into a beekeeping family by tradition — both his grandfather and his brothers practiced beekeeping. After his grandfather, the uncles inherited the hives. On his mother's side, his grandfather also kept bees, and was succeeded by uncle Ahmet who practiced beekeeping until his death.
He did everything with the help of his wife, and sometimes the grandchildren would pitch in when they had time. As he says: "In my long years of working with bees, I had great support and help from my wife and my lovely daughters and grandchildren."
With 34 years of experience, Abdulah always kept 70 to 100, and up to 140 hives on the slopes of Konjuh mountain. His specialty is technique and technology for higher yields in an optimal year.
As he explains: "To get from 50 to 200 or even more kilograms of honey, if nature provides. And if nature doesn't provide, there is no technique or technology that will deliver results."
Abdulah designed his own equipment that enabled more efficient work:
"That would complete my equipment — the bottom board and cover board, those are like my patents."

Only healthier bees produce more
Abdulah's decades-long efforts to find a way to stop varroa have borne fruit. Organovar is a herbal contact preparation based on essential oils of conifers, tested on over 10,000 hives with effectiveness up to 98%.
The preparation has a dual effect: it controls varroa and disinfects the hive from bacteria and viruses. It is completely natural and safe — with no residues in honey, wax or pollen.
Besides practical work, Abdulah was also involved in educational lectures about practical beekeeping. During winter, he would give several lectures organized by cantonal and municipal beekeeping associations.
At the urging of fellow beekeepers, he decided to film a 90-minute movie covering a complete beekeeping year — from the first cleansing flight in early spring all the way to winter preparation.
Support for the film came from beekeepers of the Tuzla, Sarajevo, Zenica and Gorazde cantons. For his contribution to beekeeping in the Federation, he received several certificates of appreciation from cantonal and municipal organizations and associations.
"The purpose of this film is to help most beekeepers achieve better results in their apiaries with less sweat — more honey, pollen, propolis."
Abdulah is a man of practice — he believes that nature dictates the results and the beekeeper only helps. His approach is based on understanding bee biology and respecting natural cycles.
"A wise man needs only a hint to understand."
He is always open to sharing knowledge: "If something is not clear, you can ask by phone or come in person. I am willing to pass on my knowledge from this film and beyond."
This website was created by Abdulah's family to preserve his beekeeping knowledge and make it available to all beekeepers across Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond.
All 12 video recordings have been transcribed and turned into a guide that faithfully conveys Abdulah's way of explaining and practical advice from decades of experience.
"I would like to thank everyone, wish you good health and more and more yields. And with this film — celebrate with honey, be healthy, welcome."
